Consume grapes raw, with the skin on, for the maximum diuretic effect of the concentrated resveratrol in the skin, which enhances kidney filtration. When frozen, grapes retain their nutrients and make excellent substitutes for fresh grapes. Do not juice the grapes. This exposes the sugars in the fruit and removes the fiber, making them less diuretic.

Dark varieties, such as Concord grapes, offer the greatest benefit, as their deep color indicates that the berry is rich in anthocyanins, which serve to neutralize the inflammatory properties of retained water. Refined with cucumber slices, this fluid effect may be combined with water for hydration. Using one cupful daily would be a limit to prevent excessive sugar infiltration, but potassium balance would be maintained.

Grapes are gentler diuretics than stronger ones, like parsley, and can therefore be used more freely; however, they also require potassium to be combined with them. So eat a little banana or a few spinach leaves along with them.
